As described in the May 15th issue the publisher of the Voice had eye surgery for a detached retina on Thursday April 27th. Recovery has been slower than hoped. Additional procedures were performed on May 10th and May 17th. The May 24th visit to the doctor found the eye healing and no further procedures needed. Full recovery is expected to take another 2 to 4 weeks.

The next publication of the Voice (Issue 2) will be June 12th.

Fair Oaks Theater Festival 1995

The Fair Oaks Theatre Festival presents its 13th season of theatre under the stars with a salute to the Fair Oaks Centennial. Moliere's classic comedy about the original gentleman wannabe "THE WOULD-BE GENTLEMAN" has been adapted by well-known local playwright, actor and director Robert Irvin into a turn-of-the-century star-spangled farce, featuring songs and dance, fireworks and fol-de-rol! The large and talented cast, live music and elaborate costumes promise another delightful evening of fun for the whole family. Don't miss the elaborate pre-show and sing-along to "The Man on the Flying Trapeze", "Bicycle Built for Two" and other favorites, followed by a fast-paced romp through 1890's America!

Sierra Club Paddle at Lake Natoma

Paddle leisurely on beautiful Lake Natoma (suitable for all canoes and kayaks) and a potluck dinner afterwards. Please bring your own plate, eating utensils and dish to share. Meet at Willow Creek lake access at 6:00 p.m. Launch promptly at 6:30 p.m. The evenings are usually finished at dusk. A Taste of Fair Oaks

"A Taste of Fair Oaks" is a Gala evening of fine wine, gourmet food and an, invitation only, art exhibit. Chefs from Fair Oaks and neighboring Sacramento restaurants will present their favorite creations or house specialties for tasting. Wineries will also be presenting their specialty wines for tasting. it will be an evening to remember with fine wine and gourmet food!

This very special evening will be held from 5:300 - 8:30 pm on Friday, June 23rd, in the Fair Oaks Community Clubhouse at 7997 California Avenue - Fair Oaks. There will be a donation of $16.00 for admission, which includes a commemorative wine glass. Proceeds will benefit the Pacific Burn Institute in their effort to help Fair Oaks children who have been victims of fire. Open to the public. Music in the Park FREE

Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce is planning to host four musical concerts in Village Park this summer, and they will be absolutely free! The performances are scheduled for June 29th, July 27th, August 24th, and September 28th. Each performing group is unique in style and size from each of the others.

June will be the River City Band, July will be announced later, August will be Sweet Adelines and September will be the Air Force Jazz Band, know as "The Commanders".

Bring your family, a friend, a blanket and your dinner. Seating will be on the grass. Come and enjoy Music In The Park!

PUBLIC BUSINESS

SAFCA Hearing Continued

The Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency public hearing of protests on Monday May 22nd was continued to 7:00 P.M. Monday June 12th at the Grand Meeting Hall, 1215 J Street due to the large number of people wanting to speak.

The local Citizens Against New Assessment Tax (CANAT) organization headed by Don Ralls is initiating a RECALL against all five county supervisors who are board members of SAFCA. According to Joeann Rollins secretary of CANAT they will be ready to proceed with the recall if the SAFCA board does not give the voters a chance to vote on the proposed assessment.

CANAT is still gathering signatures on the petition requiring a vote of the people to approve the assessment. CANAT can be reached at 961-1405.
